Customer

Our customer is Toyota Material Handling Europe, which is one of the world’s largest suppliers of material handling solutions, both within forklifts and related products and services. It has more than 10,000 employees in about 30 sales companies, as well as in development and manufacturing units in Sweden, Italy, and France. The head office is in Mjölby, where smart solutions for material handling and unique trucks are developed and produced.

Project

In the today’s connected world, we expect things to move quickly and be continuously improved. Together with Toyota Material Handling we develop and maintain a platform for management of self-driving forklifts used in warehouses. With these connected smart trucks from Toyota, everyone can be in control of all the operations, eliminate all waste, and work towards lean operation.

The solution we are working on is installed as an integration layer communicating with the Toyota Autopilot automated guided vehicles (AGVs) and existing infrastructure such as warehouse management systems, goods identification, and other material handling equipment. The solution offers operational robustness and optimizes warehouse resource utilization, for flexibility, smooth integration, and a continuous flow of your operations.

The main features of the product allow:

  • monitoring activities with the user-friendly interface
  • smooth integration with existing on-site systems
  • smart dynamic traffic routing always choosing the optimal path

Our goal is to make efficient management of the material handling equipment in terms of time and cost.

You as a Team Lead will be collaborating with a business analyst, working out technical solutions fitting the warehouses platform business needs, confirming them with an architect, planning their implementations, and driving the team towards releases.

Another area of the Team Lead role will be driving enhancements for existing Toyota end-customers who already use the warehouses platform in order to satisfy their needs and wishes.

Team:

The specific project is seen now as 2 teams working in parallel, each team includes 5-7 people: Architect, Senior Developer(s), Middle Developers, Junior Developer(s), Test Automation Engineer, Support Engineers, PM, DevOps.

Requirements

  • At least 2 years of relevant experience in IT Project Management
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle, experience in Agile
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in people management practices: coaching and mentoring, team and conflict management, team motivation and team building
  • Experience in working with requirements, risk management
  • Experience in communication with customers
  • High level of self-organization, attention to details
  • Upper-Intermediate spoken and written English

Responsibilities

  • Overall project planning; defining, estimating, and scheduling of project works
  • Managing, monitoring, and forecasting of project execution; successful execution and delivery of projects on time and within the allocated budget
  • Learning the project domain, using domain-specific vocabulary
  • Playing the Product Owner role
  • Taking corrective actions as required to deliver the complete scope with the desired quality in time and within the budget (including scope change management, risk mitigation, etc.)
  • Supporting the entire Software Engineering cycle for the allocated set of projects (Customer Communications, Requirements Analysis, Architecture, Design, Implementation, Documentation, Testing, Deployment, Maintenance)
  • On-time monitoring of task fulfillment and reporting to management and customers
  • Contributing to project’s lifecycle improvement through lessons learned, project archives, etc.
  • Preparing new bids (technical and commercial proposals for new projects)
